Weekly Fire Alarm Test for a C-TEC XFP System
(Using a Digital Logbook with QR Code and Guest Entry Form)
This procedure ensures all weekly testing requirements are met while using a modern, efficient, and secure digital logbook system.
1. Preparation
Inform all occupants: Announce to everyone in the building that a fire alarm test is about to be conducted. This is a critical step to avoid panic and false evacuations.
Initial Panel Check: Go to the C-TEC XFP fire alarm panel and confirm it is in a "normal" state. No fault lights, warnings, or active alarms should be present.
2. Digital Logbook Access & ID Retrieval
Scan the QR Code: Use your smartphone or tablet's camera to scan the dedicated digital logbook QR code, which is located on or next to the fire alarm panel.
Identify the Asset: Your device will display the unique "TAGiD Item" for the fire alarm panel.
Copy the TAG ID: Click the button to "copy TAG ID number." This action copies the unique identifier to your device's clipboard.
3. Test & Logging
Access the Guest Entry Form:
Click the 3 dots menu on your screen.
Select "Guest Entry Form."
Paste the TAG ID: In the field labeled "TAG iD," paste the number you copied in the previous step.
This action links your test record directly to the specific fire alarm panel.
Activate an MCP: Go to the chosen Manual Call Point (MCP) for this week's test. It's essential to activate a different MCP each week on a rotational basis to ensure all are tested over time.
Confirm Alarm Activation: Check that the fire alarm system's sounders (bells/sirens) and visual alarms (strobes) activate correctly and are audible/visible throughout the building.
Record Details in the Form: Fill out the remaining fields on the guest entry form, which should include:
Confirmation that sounders and visual alarms worked.
The location/zone of the MCP you activated.
Your name or initials.
Any faults or observations.
4. Reset & Completion
Reset the MCP: Use the provided key or tool to reset the manual call point.
Silence the Alarm: Go back to the C-TEC XFP panel and press the "Silence Alarms" button.
Reset the System: Press the "Reset" button to return the panel to its normal, standby state.
Finalize the Log: Submit the completed guest entry form on your device. The test record is now officially logged, timestamped, and securely stored in the cloud.
